Ford has over 160,000 reservations, but will only be building less then 15,000 in 2022

I heard from a friend of mine that works with Ford that they have stated in their recent meetings, that they only plan on building 15,000 Lightnings in 2022 and only around 30,000 to 40,000 in 2023. That's a far cry for the amount of reservations that they have already. All of those 2022 builds will be the Platinum series, so with the prices of those, many will probably drop their orders. The 2023 builds will be a mix of the lower series trucks.

I looked this info up and I did find that CarBuzz has some great information on it.

Ford has a hit on its hands despite not having built a single production version yet. The F-150 Lightning has managed to draw around 160,000 reservations, far exceeding initial expectations. That's why Ford decided to double production with a $250 million investment that should increase production capacity to 80,000 units per year. The current plan is to build 15,000 in 2022, 55,000 in 2023, and 80,000 in 2024. Beginning in 2025, the second-generation model will supposedly launch, riding on an all-new platform instead of the modified architecture shared with the standard F-150. Those production numbers might sound impressive but they're probably not good enough.

I would of thought they would have more fan fare if they went with fleet sales and artisan use for these trucks in the first year. The contractors can write off for business use and cut there cost with the reserve battery systems in the lower tier models. Just doesn't make sense to build just Platinums when marketing EV's. Time will tell I suppose.
